"I Made a Mess, Will You Stay?"
It is a common human experience to fear being too messy. For some of us, maybe that is in a physical sense, but for most of us, if we're honest, the mess that comes to mind is the mess of our lives. And if we're being really honest, we are scared that if we let the mess show even for a second, people will leave. We live in fear that if people knew who we really were, if they knew what we were really like or what we really thought, if they knew the stories of our past that are vulnerable and hard to digest, that those around us would leave, and we would be left to clean up our mess ourselves.
The beautiful thing about God is that, in our mess, within the tears and chaos, he chooses to come and sit alongside us. He is near to the brokenhearted and crushed in spirit. He CHOOSES us IN our mess because it is often what leads us back to Him.
If you've ever felt like you've had to beg those around you to stay when your life gets messy, I'm sorry. I hope you know your mess has never been and will never be too big for The Lord God Almighty. He will always stay, no questions asked.
